Photo of the Week (Double!)

This weeks double Photo of the Week goes to Matt Bujok and his crazy streetboarding. The first shot is a FS 180 to switch front smith. Or would it be a FS 180 willie grind? Anyway, this is Matt Bujok's stock trick, and he can take it down anything. So this hubba was no exception. Matt nailed it first try. The second shot, again is of Matt Bujok doing a front board down the rail. This was our last trick that we got for the day since they were closing for the night. Matt Bujok has done much larger front boards, but this one is just absolutely textbook. Look at his weight distribution and how he is ready to get out...this was done first try as well, but it was just absolutely perfect. Both these shots were taken at Polson Pier in Toronto. If you want to learn more about the trip, there are 2 trip recaps under this post. Congrats Matt on having both shots int the special Double Photo of the Week!

Another Toronto Trip

Well, Trevor Nedea and I have just gotten in from another 2 day stay over in our province's Capital. We did a 2 day stay in Toronto where we chilled, had some good times (and some bad ones) and hung out with some old friends, and some new ones. The trip started off as driving to Toronto, and by Stoney Creek, the snow was covering the highways, creating accidents in astronomical amounts. There was a car that was being held up on a fence, the front of the car was off the ground, and the tail of it was stuck in the air from a fence post, which was about 40-50 feet away from any road. So the trip up was basically like that, with cars that were in ditches, and cars that spun out, and hit the centre median. Once we got up to Polson Pier on the first day, we started skating with a guy named Mike Morris, and he fuckin rips. Anyways, after chatting it up with him for a bit, we heard a HUGE booming noise. At first, we though something had broken on the tent, or the scaffolding that supports the snowboard hill/jibbing park they have set up. But then 10 seconds later, we found out that lightning, yes LIGHTNING had struck the scaffolding. Knwoing this, the session was over for the time being. The park was latered opened about 30 minutes later since the lightning had basically stopped with a few flashes every so often. It was a snowstorm with a thunderstrom, it was crazy! So after the last 20 minutes of skating went down, and the weather not letting up, we had to drive to our friend Pat Maloney's house. That was an adventure in itself, going the wrong direction, trying to cut down one way streets, yeah, it was quite fun. Eventually, we made it to his house though. We set up our stuff, and eventually, Pat's roomate, and Manager of Polson Pier, Emil Barcay made his way into the house. Emil is a funny guy who was chill the entire time. Later that night, we started skating Pat's mini-ramp in his garage, where Pat, Trevor, and myself learned a few new tricks each, so it was such a fun session. Once the session was over, we got ourselves some dinner, some rum, and started playing "Rock Band" for about 3 hours. After a while, everyone went to bed. The next day started off with a quick wash of the hair and face, and everyone slowly waking up since we went to bed at 4 in the morning. Once everyone was up, we piled into Emil's car and went out for breakfast at a cool little place called "Insomnia". Just a simple little hub of dining that had great food. During our breakfast, we all peered out the window and saw the biggest douche of a cop trying to fill his quota for tickets. The guy was all hard and shit, being such a dick and pulling every other car over. It was quite a scene to watch, and we had front row seats to the show from our table. After breakfast, it was back to Emil's/Pat's house to pack up our stuff and head back to Polson Pier for a few more hours of skating. Skating Polson again was quite fun, but everyone tired quickly. No filming really happened, just some fun skating with Mike, Pat and Myself. Dave Nolan stopped by for a bit to talk to Pat, so it was just a chill session. Eventually, everyone tired out after a few hours of skating. We left Polson Pier at about 5 PM, and I decided to go back to Pat's/Emil's house for a few hours just to chill and wait for rush hour traffic to die down on the Gardiner. While waiting on the traffic, we played some Halo 3, and Pat is the funniest kid to play with online. He pretends he is a gay, drugged up guy from New Jersey, with the accent and all. It is too funny, it is either people laugh at him, or they get super pissed with him. We played that for a bit, then grabbed some dinner. After dinner, it was time for Trevor and I to head home. Traffic wasn't too bad, and going 150km/h down the highway gets you home nice and quick. I'm looking forward to the next time we can go up.
Here are some pics from our trip:
