Toronto & The Polson Pier Trip

Well, another trip is in the books for a few guys on the AGK team. Trevor Nedea, Matt Bujok, and his girlfriend Emilee, along with myself went to Toronto for a fun 2 day adventure. The first thing we came across was the Polson Pier was closed, including the indoor skatepark from 100 KM/H winds right off of Lake Ontario. Not only did it close Polson Pier for the day, but winds were so bad, that the Burlington Skyway was closed, creating massive traffic headaches. Thank God for Matt Bujok and his driving abilities, and also knowing the back ways into Toronto. Matt took his car and I took mine, we had to weave in and out of traffic so many times to keep moving, and also so we could stay together as a group. Our trip up took us a about 4, 5 hours, yeah, 5 hours! But we were moving the whole time since we took back roads once we got off the highway. Once we entered Toronto, we stopped off at a local indoor skatepark called "Shred Central". When we got there, we had an hour to skate, and Luckily the guy charged us $5 instead of $10, since the time was running low. We just started skating around, and then Trevor and myself started skating the 6 set that they have in this park. It was fun, Trev got a switch flip, fakie 180s, and basically all of Trevor's stock, go-to tricks. I was bumming around on a sore knee, but I was still able to pull my nollies, Nollie 180s, and I was fortunate enough to land a nollie flip quite cleanly within a few tries. Bujok started filming, and Trev was hittin the Hubba with a nose slide. Trevor was trying a noseslide shove out, but just couldn't pull it off due to the slippery wooden landing. I was trying to pull a nolie back-heel down the set, and I would land on the board basically everytime, but once again, that wooden landing would just slip me out. They were closing and the owner wanted to see me land it, and I had like 10 tries, and on each one I landed on the board, but I just couldn't ride away. We ended the night going to Bujok's sister's house to stay for night, and she lives in Oshawa. We got there, set up all of our stuff, and just uploaded any footy we got from that day, and also watached the Lakai Video "Fully Flared", and some of our older footy on an LCD projecter with a 100" screen. It was so sick! After that Matt and Trevor were playing Halo for a bit on the Xbox 360, and I decided to go to bed. The next moring, we all woke up at around 10:30am, and went upstairs to enjoy some Bagels with cream cheese, and a cup of coffee. We watched some funny new video thing from Australia while we ate. Once we finished, we got ourselves cleaned up for the day, packed up all of our stuff and headed out. We stopped off at Zellers quickly to pick up some tapes for Trevs camera. Once that was done, we headed out to Polson Pier. They have a pretty decent set-up there. Trev, Matt, and myself skated (and streetboarded) for a little while, bangin out some tricks on every obstacle there. Eventually Bujok left to go snowboarding on the Jib set up they have at Polson Pier. Trevor and I kept skating, and it got hot in there. We drank so much liquid it was insane. Anyways, we all got some good footy, from the park, and we eventually had to leave from exhaustion. We left around 6:00pm. Hit The Gardnier, which was jam packed, due to rush hour traffic. Got home at about 8:15ish, and were happy to be home. It was such a fun trip, and we are planning on going up next week.

Here are some photos from the trip.

Busy! Busy! Busy!

Well lately, I have been fairly busy, as-well as Trevor. We have been working on some last minute filming, and whatnot. Trevor has been working on editing the video. The last few weeks, I have been going to Xtreme Wheels trying to stay good through the winter trying not to lose any tricks, and hopefully learn some new ones. The last Xwheels trip brought 1 trick in for myself, which will you will see in the upcoming video, also Lorne Monroe got a trick, and Trev landed a few for himself. My knee has been acting up again, from each time I skate, I might land on it weird and mess it all up again. The pain will last for 5 minutes, then I'm good to skate, but the next morning, my knee is very sore and stiff. Anyways, my doctor's appointment is tomorrow (January 29th) to see if I will need surgery on it, since the first set of check-ups never seemed to be bad. I'll let you know tomorrow on here.

Photo of the Week

This week, I chose a shot that I took on Go Skateboarding Day, 2007, for Photo of the Week. It's nothing special about it. Just some kids who aren't thinking about school, work, or any of that bullshit. Just a fun day to go out, and skate with your friends. This was about 1/3 of the crew that day, the rest were infront of of me skating towards a school. This day was a fun day, despite Trevor's VX1000 lens fisheye lens broke off, luckily, not breaking the lens. I am certainly looking forward to this year's Go Skateboarding Day!

Photo of the Week

This weeks Photo of the Week goes to (once again) Trevor Nedea, co-owner of Antigravity Skateshop. This photo is kind of old, it was shot in August I think. Anyways, Trevor got warmed up on the set just doing some simple ollies, switch ollies, etc. Then Trevor decided to go for this Switch Kickflip, while everyone else was just messing around on the set, due to how weird this set is to skate. The runway is flat, then right at the set, it rolls down slightly, causing you to go complete off balance, and the landing is uphill, and is full of little stones from the playground which is maybe 20 feet away. Trevor landed this switch flip a few times due to how picky Trevor is with his tricks, they have to be bolts everytime. Anyways, Trevor, I think, has killed this set, he has pulled so many switch tricks over it, it's pretty insane. This is why I chose this shot for Photo of the Week. Congrats Trevor. This is your 3rd time on the wall of fame.

Update

Hey everyone, it's friday, and yes, tomorrow I will have the Photo of the Week up. You people are all impatient. Anyways, I am planning on getting a new tattoo very soon to cover up the first one I ever got. I am planning on getting a sweet AGK graffiti piece to cover up my old "Made in Canada" piece. (Piece of shit) So, since I got my lovely paycheck today, over half of it will go to bills (obviously) and hopefully, I will have a new tattoo by the end of the weekend. When I get it done, I will post shots of it, don't worry, I'm a photography of skateboarding, I can't shoot anything in the winter, so the only new shot I will have is of my tattoo when I get it.

Photo of the Week

This weeks "Photo of the Week" goes to Antigravity Skateshop rider, Nathan "Ginger" Jolley. You may have seen his hilarious "Public Service Announcement" on the Antigravity website. Anyways, this photo was taken TODAY! That's right everyone, a fresh photo. Anyways, the day started off like any other normal day, waking up in a room filled with 8 people on 2 mattresses, and padding on the floors from a fun night of partying. But later in the day, since the weather was decent, we hit up our skatepark. I brought my gear along thinking if something decent goes down, I'll shoot it. near the end of our session, Nate started tryin this back tail. He was coming so close, then on this one, he rode away for a second, but fell off, but it still would count as a landing in anyone elses books. Anyways, it was basically dark out, and Nate was gettin piased off due to the light, so this was his final attempt, and I think it should count. Congrats on your Photo of the Week, Nate!

Flatground Bangers

Trevor Nedea and I have just finished up a fun little, winter flatground video we made. This is what boredom creates when there is snow on the ground, and no decent indoor skateparks with a few minutes, let alone staying in our country. Anyways, Check out the video.

Mission

Trevor and I have finished filming and editing a small, fun piece of footage we did at the Sobey's Underground parking lot (UGP). Since it's winter, and skating street is basically an impossibility, we thought it would be fun to mess around and just film our night skating the flat of the UGP. The footage should be up within the next few days. I'll also post the link for it on my here once it becomes available. If you want to stay up to date on the shop or the team, check out teh Antigravity website.

Photo of the Week

This weeks photo is of Antigravity Skateshop team rider, and owner, Trevor Nedea pullin' a Switch Back Heel over the Niagara Falls City Hall 5 set. Now, if you have skated this set before, you know of the huge inch wide crack right before the set. That means you have to pop before it, there's no riding over that crack. Next, if you have skated this spot, you for a set, it is pretty big. Yes, it's only a 5 set, but it's a fucked 5 set. Before Trevor threw down this Switch Back Heel, I was trying a Nollie Back Heel, but I ended up bailing out really bad and messing up my knee. For those who have been keeping up with my blog, This night was the night, my injury happened. I tore my inside ligament of my my right knee, and also sprained the knee. My baggy TK Kr3W pants, were as tight as Matt Mongeri's skinny jeans, where my knee was from the swelling. In our up-coming video "Butter on my Bread", you will be able to watch my injury go down since we caught it on film.Anyways, Trevor gets photo of the Week because of this spot is much more gnarly then it looks, and the clean Switch Back Heel that he pulled is by-far the best trick thrown down it. Congrats Trev on another Photo of the Week.

Welcome 2008

The new year is upon us, 2008 is hopefully going to be a great year. I rang in the new year a bunch of good friends, drinkin, and partying it up, couldn't have gotten any better. I met some new people while with my old friends. Today I did my first trick of the new year first try. I was hyped, without a warm up, or anything, I executed a nice nollie flip with a very clean landing. Yes, I know nollie flip is my go-to-trick, but it was nice knowing I wasn't warmed up to get it. I'm excited for the new year to be a great one, to stay somewhat decent with not too much rain. Happy New Year Everyone.
